WELCOME TO ENVIRONMENTALISTS AT TRINITY HOUSE
Welcome to the world of no naps! We still mourn the loss of our last nap, but whilst you navigate a world of avoiding the 3-4pm danger nap, we hope you find this age as enjoyable as we did.
The boys really came into their own, began to show their unique personalities and became funny, chatty little people. It’s also a tough age in many ways, the boys wanted to express their voice and independence, but didn’t always have the words or ways to be able to do this, leading to the “tantrums” you often hear about.
We spent time helping them understand their feelings, started potty training (more on this later!), but had so much fun singing, dancing, partying, cooking and playing! All in all, our little Environmentalists were hard work, but so much fun at this age!

How do you describe a routine with no naps?
Exhausting. There is only one word. And this is true for parent, child and key person. Entertaining and stimulating a child all day is hard work, but the fantastic thing about Environmentalists is that we are equipped for exactly this task! Your child will never be bored and will come home with a million little stories about their day. Come rain or shine, we have a million little ways to keep your children entertained!

Our day starts with breakfast which is served until 9.00am.

We have a light snack around 10.30 before lunch at 11.30-12.30pm.

We support children who still need a nap, but for those that don’t we encourage them to continue play time after lunch.

We encourage at least two outdoor play sessions on a daily basis, and a mix of free play and prepared or formal activities.

We serve a light tea at 3.30pm allowing our toddlers to play until they are picked up.
How do we support our Environmentalists?
It’s all about fun, play and stimulation at this age! Every child is unique and we work to ensure we find something to engage every one of our little Pioneers!
Our goal is to help your child gain the independence they tend to begin to seek at this age - from working on language skills to help communication to encouraging physical activity so they are adept in more ways.
We will also be teaching them how to dress and feed independently, and working them through a mix of free play as well as adult led activities.
Our key persons are trained to react to a child’s interests and work with them to help grow language skills, confidence and abilities through all activities.

Our outdoor area is also fantastic - we have an 100ft+ garden divided into multiple zones to further engage our children’s imaginations and spirit! We are surrounded by the rabbit hatch, bug hotel and vegetable patches as well as two mud kitchens for outdoor messy play.
We have a large decked area and gazebo to act as a reading corner for those seeking a quiet time and we also let this double up as a stage for activities like dancing, singing, drama and role play. We encourage children to develop physically by running around the garden, using the climbing frame independently and encourage them to enjoy time outside in the multiple zones we have created for water play and outdoor games.
Children are learning and absorbing everything about their environment at this age – visually and emotionally. We work with them to understand and express feelings, how to navigate social interactions and communicate and share effectively. We also work to ensure their environment is familiar, safe and full of learning opportunities and exploring in the Forest School and garden are a fantastic way to achieve this.
Food & Nutrition
All our food is freshly prepared daily on site by our Chef and we cater for all religious and dietary needs. At this age we will spend more time in our garden, teaching children about where their food comes from and encouraging heathy eating through cooking and assembling food (e.g. making sandwiches at tea time or putting their own toppings on a pizza). Children with allergies and food intolerances are supported.

How can we support you as a parent?
We encourage our parents to work closely with their child’s Key person at this age and talk through any challenges or milestones you wish to work towards. From potty training to feeding independently, teaching children how to express their emotions and communicate effectively, to support with continually evolving sleep routines or ideas on activities to do at home, we are there to support you and provide advice where helpful.
