Organic Vegetables

We constantly hear that our boys are “great eaters”, as soon as they see food, they take their seats eagerly anticipating their next meal and as a matter of course have a second helping!  From a young age they’ve been exposed to a variety of foods and cuisines, and have seen meal times as a social occasion which has in part fed their love of meal times.

At Trinity House, we have curated our menu and nutrition plan to create healthy, varied and balanced meals for our children.  We have many of the kids' family favourites on the menu and hope to bring their love of mealtimes to your little ones!

Our Approach

Our setting has a fully equipped kitchen and staffed by qualified cooks.  Children are proactively encouraged to self-serve their meals, from cereal in the morning to sandwiches for tea – with the help of staff when required.  We encourage them to feed and drink independently as they are able to do so, again helping to prepare them for life at home and when they leave the setting.

Our menus change on a seasonal basis to reflect the fresh fruit and vegetables that are available.  We will source food and ingredients from our garden’s vegetable and herb patches in line with the seasons.  We focus on healthy, natural snacks such as fruits and encourage low sugar alternatives throughout the day.  For example, porridge instead of cereal, breadsticks and hummus instead of cakes or biscuits.

Children enjoy three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and tea and are offered snacks in the morning and afternoon.  We also ensure there is a wide variety of fruit available for all rooms. Water is available all day and we provide milk, milk shakes and fruit smoothies throughout the day as well as at meal times.  We encourage drinking these over sugary fruit juices which are not offered on our menu.

Please review our sample menu below and share feedback and input. We are keen to partner with parents and ensure the nutritional we deliver suits all dietary needs, cultures and tastes.

Fussy Eaters

Fussy eating is common for children under 5 – whilst my boys love their food one recoils at the site of a courgette and the other cannot abide by anything sweet.

Fussy eating can be especially common between the ages of 1 and 2.  At Trinity House, we are trained to deal with this, and will patiently and persistently continue to offer your child food without forcing the experience.

We will praise them for trying new things, remove attention when they don’t and generally encourage meal times to be a social occasion with their peers so they are motivated to join in.
